anyone tell me anything about these boats. Dont seem the same concept as Treeve or Plymouth Pilot, and cant find out anything!
Designed by Keith Nelson trading as TT Boat Designs www.nelsonboats.co.uk. 8 seconds on Google (but I knew it anyway as we have one as a club launch)
well, I guess I m wondering about displacement weight, speed is going to be.. 7-8knots maybe.. how do they handle re Treeve, Plymouth Pilot,Cygnus etc.
I m looking for something to fit out as a "launch", and was starting with the Cornish beach/cove type of boat. The Nelson seems to crop up from time to time,, less often than others, which might suggest there are less of them, and it seems, less variations of them. Think I prefer the lines of the PPilot, but it seemed probable someone around here would have some hands on knowledge.
I would have thought it was a better sea-keeper than the Pl.Pilot and maybe heavier built as well, though the commercial lay-up Pilot is very solid.
What do you want to do with this launch of yours? Why not buy a smart little Orkney 522 or 592 or even one out of their Vanguard range - very smart. Even better - but I appreciate there's a financial crisis worrying some folk - why not buy a proper launch as produced by the Dutch with their Sloeps - suit you sir!! Think they start at about £25k!!
