Hi members,

My 36 foot Feeling 1090 is on the hard currently, since last October. I am taking down to Spain initially and after fixing her up for the last 2 months, she is ready to go back in the water. My planned departure is the end of May. I had previously been in a small independent budget friendly Marina in the Solent but when I called them, they did not have any space on the only deep water pontoon.
I need a home for her so I can book the lift back in and start preparing her for offshore sailing. I have a Tender and outboard so a swinging mooring would be ok but a walk ashore would be ideal but right now, but anything will do if there is secure tender storage. I already asked the yard if they could accommodate me in their small marina but no luck.

Any suggestions or any knowledge of a vacant berth or mooring? 🙏

Do you have any Royal Navy or Civil Service connection (including parents)? The RNSA moorings team in Portsmouth normally have plenty of swinging mooring available and may also be some in Portland.

My Mother (retired) worked for the NHS in the phlebotomy section. Actually I have a friend who was a senior nurse but now is a manager working for the county council I think. if it is not a lot of hassle for her, I could ask. We are not that close as is divorcing my buddy of 40 years but I recently had contact with her?

Have you asked the Chichester Harbour Conservancy - they may have temporary space on one of their swinging moorings

That may be OK but not sure. If you go to RNSA Home Page their contact details are at the bottom.

Not sure about RNSA, but, for Civil Service have a look here. Civil Service Sailing Association – The sailing community of the Civil Service Sports Council If you are not employed by any of the relevant organizations you need someone to put your name forward and then once you have got into the CSSA you can join a club e.g. ( Home : Portsmouth Offshore Group )
May take a few weeks

Yarmouth would have you probably. Either walk ashore or not. Prices on their web site, monthly fees.
Thanks for the input but I need to be on the mainland. I live in North Wilts so it is already a 2 hour drive. I will be backwards and forwards every weekend in May so it wouldn't work with a ferry journey too..

I can only suggest Wicormarine -there is enough depth to stay afloat but you might find you are cut off from landing pontoon at low tide (I haven’t been at Wicor for a number of years ) but we first kept 1.85 keel there and always stayed afloat even if the mud was all around you at low water.

Wicor is now all tide walk ashore on one side, and all tide dinghy access to the other.

Quay Lane might be worth a call. They only advertise annual rates for a boat of your size, but if they've got a few spare...
Thanks. I have been trying to call them all day but nobody is picking up. I prefer to make initial contact verbally. An enquiry such as this could easily be briefly read and ignored. Make contact first and then send the boats length and draft etc. if there may be a possible chance....
I have booked the lift back in for 2 weeks today at 1st High water so I need to get something sorted 🙏

Another option might be Sparkes marina, Chichester. They also own the moorings in Mengen Rythe. We used to moor there, it was quite reasonable. I have to say though that again the drove from North Wilts might make that a no no. I think it would take as long to get to as Yarmouth, though you might think not. All of the popular S coast moorings are going to have thumping traffic queues, IMHO the ferry is a minor inconvenience compared to leaving Hayling or Hamble on a Sunday evening. People wait a couple of hours sometimes.

Wicormarine is only 10 minutes from junction 11 of M27. There are still spaces on the pontoons but another bunch of us will be launching on the next big tides at the end of April.

Won't the issue be here that you want a short stay berth whereas to get the best price you ideally need a 6 month or annual contract? Is it possible to stay on the hard and continue the preparations until closer to your departure time?
