Need a bigger dinghy

I currently have a Seago 2.4m airdeck dinghy but its too small for my needs as only really carries 2 persons. I really need one that will carry 4 adults comfortable ashore. Any recommendations and also the best place to buy from? I have looked at second hand stuff but to be honest it isnt much cheaper than new.

We've had two Waveline 2.9 inflatables, current one is about 6 years old. Placarded for 4 people but only planes with 2 + shopping.

Big Honwave's are good - big diameter tubes. So are Walker Bay's.

Fastest are Caribe's, but hard to find here.

My current boat came with a Loadstar 2.7m that is placarded for four adults. Its a nicely made semi- lightweight dinghy but I am not sure that they are currently being supplied in UK.

I looked VERY seriously at Walker Bay's, but they have several drawbacks. Low freeboard is the most serious. Onboard storage was the next and cost was the final one.

I had a Waveline 2.9 V hull, large tubes for over 10 years, always exposed to the weather and was used a lot. Excellent quality and very durable, also, the tubes are large and able to carry 4 adults easily, would go on the plane with one person using a 3.5 hp 4 stroke. I now have Honwave but its more expensive and heavier.

I once bought a 14ft Bayliner Speedboat for £1000 including trailer (when I was without a boat) and thought that it would be an ideal tender for on the Menai Straights as it would take 4 adults, and with a 9hp Outboard would be able to go against the tidal flow.

Ours was a Genisis RIB, very good, large diameter tubes, dedicated outboard tank storage, under seat storage.

It was heavy but very stable - unlike the WB Hard dinghy.

Storage for us was no problem - we had a superb Kato davit system.

We have quicksilver 3m which we use when 4 adults and a dog. 6hp outboard 4 stroke seems to move it along fine and is just about weight limit for 2 to affix outboard Hauling it out from locker when deflated is much easier with electric winch?.

Whatever larger dinghy make you go for I would invest in electric pump of some sort , plus small anchor ideally in case outboard breaks down. . If budget permits I would have a folding hard bottom version but rather depends on size of mothership. I have seen Highfield is a popular make with cruisers

For 2 of us we use a seago with 2 stroke 3.3 .

Just be aware of weight of any dinghy if looking for larger size though if you plan to move it around deck as some are quite heavy compared to a little seago .
I would love a davit system one day as suggested above.

Just to follow up I managed to pick up a good used Honda Marine 3.2m airdeck from Gumtree. Just not sure how well my 4hp mariner will push it along....this may get expensive

I used to own a ally deck inflatable 3.4m SEAPRO HDD SIB.

absolutely faultless in every way.

I bought from Bill Higham marine and I think i paid around £900 brand new. Bit pricey but superb quality and you get same material and size boat for way cheaper than honwave for instance for virtually no difference what so ever. Except the price!

If i want another SIB in the future i will defo buy again!
