Bit of a long shot ...........
I have a Navman 5100 plotter that transmits GPS data to my other NMEA enabled instruments (Navman 7100 DSC VHF, ICS Nav6+ Navtex and Navman 3100 Repeater). Has all been worked flawlessly since new instruments installed 2 years ago.
I bought the Furuno NMEA cable at the boatshow in a moment of weakness with the intention of pushing GPS data to my Furuno 1623 Radar.
No problem getting the Radar to receive NMEA data from the GPS via the bus, BUT as soon as I connect the Radar to the NMEA bus, the VHF stops receiving NMEA data. All other instruments continue to receive data as normal. If I pull the NMEA cable out of the Radar then the VHF immediatly starts to receive data again.
Spent hours on saturday trying every combination we could thinm of. The Furuno has 2 NMEA channels, one receive only and one configurable receive/tranmit. I can get successful connectivity using the receive only channel (subject to the problem above), but can't get connectivity using the receive/transmit channel regardless of whether I get it up to send or receive.
Once again, bit of a long shot I know, but does anyone else have a similar combination of instruments and perhaps has seen this issue ?
