al my android gadgets now refuse to load navionics or to tbe accurate they immediately start a chart upload ( which I dont wasnt) and then say "download stopped".

And this was for the licence for life version.

Everone having the same issue or have I got a problem.

not yet. TBH I was thinking it was likely a navionics scam to turn the charts for life into something you had to pay to renew.

I believe that Garmin now owns Navionics and I have found the support they offer to be superb.

Why not ask the manufacturer.

It normally warns charts require updating and gives you the option of aborting the update.

My understanding is you need a current subscription for the chart update to download.

You have a lifetime licence to use your old charts without updates.

I used to say the same about Garmin and sang their praises for years. I don’t anymore.

Now that sounds like a way of legitimising an ongoing charge for what was perceived as a lifetime of use and support. having said that, it wouldn't surprise me, and I often wonder how companies can be sure of selling enough new product to be able to support older customers at no cost.

I can still use my Navionics on iPad which I have downloaded without an update . I haven't tried to download further areas of French coast since original purchase but have enough coverage for intended cruising plus of course chip on Raymarine so rather regard Navionics as a backup and home planning tool given paper charts and Raymarine charts. That said I don't think update fee is that unreasonable if planning a cross channel trip?
