I've been looking to update my Navionics Gold card via their web app. It advises that I am not eligible for Freshest Data and forwards me to sites that sell a new card. Having spent £180 on the card originally in 2009 it appears I am now being ask to spend another £180 on a new card and because my card is from before 2010 I am not eligible for any discount. Anyone else been there or can offer a solution ? Thanks.

just been through an update process. Navionics supplied an update card (blank) and you go through a process on their web site to 'retire' the old card and then use the new card. What is tedious is that you cannot select the entire 28XG region but select 'parts' of the area. I had to do this 5 times to get the whole area. Give the UK office a call as it may be that a 2009 chart differs from a 2012 one.

Ok thanks. Did you pay the £189 or did you get some sort of discount ?

I updated my 2004 charts 2 years ago, regretted it ever since. The upgraded charts have much much more data. The result has been to slow my C80 response down.

Paid £90 to Navionics at the London Boat show - but I think £99 is the usual upgrade price. You can check the process and whether your old chart qualifies and buy from them over the phone.

Regarding the 'much more data' comment, that I think refers to the bathymetric files which you can 'optionally' download as part of the upgrade. I have not found a way to remove them once you have downloaded them though......
