Navionics Charts

And unless it has changed very rcently the Navionics chart update doesn't work with Windows 10 Edge browser.

Chrome under Win 10 does work but seems odd that after so long Navionics have not caught up with Microsoft's current PC platform

Certainly didn't work with Edge yesterday and I was not impressed that my first act in loading up my new Navionics card had to be downloading Firefox to my PC!

Navionics have had several different systems, and do a terrible job of explaining them.

You're not wrong! I've just bought a Lowrance Elite 5hdi sonar/plotter which apparently takes 2gb max microsd cards and Navionics Gold cards (according to Navionics plotter compatibility table) which are discontinued.

Its also disappointing that there is only one card slot, so as I want to save sonar data it means removing the chart card.

One positive note for Navionics support.

This brainy one could not find his old Navionics card or at least not the micro SD bit. Having bought an upgrade Card at the recent London Boat Show. Some stress as time limit from purchase date if you want free updates for a year, you have to activate it sooner.

Contacted Navionics help team by email from their website. To which I got a reply, about three days for response including the weekend, with online support route, which I followed up. This permitted limited remote control of my own PC and with me having a blank SD card handy all went very smoothly. I was able to give them my new card detail and invoice number etc.

I see what you mean- e.g. if you initialise a card for say area 46XG, Central and Western Europe, it is a much bigger area than say 28XG, UK, Ireland and Holland (navionics areas here).

I always assumed it was to do with their licensing agreements with hydrographic offices. If the UKHO want lots of money for UK charts, they can't combine them with the rest of Europe without either putting a serious dent in their profit margin or abandoning the concept of having the same price for each region.
