Navionics CF Card Question

Hi, I bought a secondhand Navionics Compact Flash card with UK & Ireland from last year. The card has update printed on the label. I want it as a backup to Navionics on my iPad. I put it into my Raymarine C80 yesterday and found that it only covers the UK and doesn’t cover Ireland.
Is there a way to add Ireland to this? I think I remember selecting the area on a previous Navionics card.
Does the card need to be in date?
Or will I have to buy an update?

You will have to buy an update - if your a RYA member you get 15% off.

If the card has not previously been used to activate another update card it can be updated itself. If you have a PC with a CF card reader you can download the Navionics Updater app which will tell you the status. You also would use the app to load the update areas and if the card is not big enough you cannot load the whole. For a C series plotter it is also worthwhile deleting the photo files from the card after a download (details on Raymarine site) as these seriously slow performance. But firstly, have you updated your plotter software?

I recently updated the plotter software and a friends card is working in it fine.
I’ll have another look at the software. The card is recent but out of date.

So when I zoom out I can see the various boxes over Europe. Only some are working. I seem to have a selection that work. The northern half of the Irish Sea works but I don’t have the west coast of Ireland. I have most of England but not Scotland.
The card is an update card. When updating these cards I seem to remember selecting the areas required. This was on an SD card version I ad previously. Maybe only certain areas were selected on this when the card was updated

Yes, could have been updated with only partial area. You need to use the app to see if this card can still be updated. You will then have to use app (and subscription obviously) to update it as you can no longer buy CF update cards. Do you know the capacity of your card, really needs to be 2G or 4G now.

That is a recent card so good for being updated onto with a renewed subscription, if the card is still valid as per my prior posts.
Note: the PC app you need is the Navionics Chart Installer.

The card is 2GB but the subscription has expired
May be a red herring, but I thought some older Raymarine plotters couldnt cope with high capacity CF cards.
Certainly it used to be a requirement to search out older lower capacity cards to do the software update.

Any idea what type of plotter the card was used in previously?

Raymarine C series do not unless they have had the software update. He has updated his C80 and reports it reads the 2G card he has.
