OK ... I have done something that anyone who knows me would be startled about ...

I actually PAID the subscription for Baltic Sea Area charting for the Boating and Lakes app.

Now I am surprised about the use of .....

The tablet is a new high end Quad core, Android 11.

I installed the App ... I already had a free trial running and about 11 days left ... but decided that because the Swedish Charts had already expired after their 2 day trial - I paid the 39.99 Euro sub for the whole Baltic.
Paid and download started. It showed as over 1Gb ..... it completed.

This is where I really was confused. The display only showed a small area surrounding my locale as active ... rest of Baltic was greyed out ..
What I found was that I had to zoom in and then scroll round to get other areas WITHIN the purchased chart area to 'download' and be active. It took me quite a while to get all showing ....

Is there some magic trick I missed out on ? I assumed that paying for the whole Baltic - it would automatically show and all be available. Not just parts .....

I used to have USA and Canada as well as UK and it all worked within the same app. Nothing greyed out but you had to identify your sailing area and zoom in and the high detail would then fill in for that area. I think this is a good way as otherwise if you load the whole area in detail the memory might struggle. I used it between Fort Lauderdale and Jamaica and The Okanagan Lake in British Columbia. Enjoy Navionics. The rest was visible but no detail I find it a great tool.

I think that is normal. I suppose the idea is that you download only what you are going to need.

My subscription cpvers Central & Western Europe, a huge area. I just download the area I am likely to sail in. Saves memory space, I suppose.

I was just surprised that whole area didn't action. I can see it as an advantage for a less able tablet ... limited in memory etc.

I assume the delete map option will just delete from memory to help speed slower tablets up - while still having them reloadable from subscription service.
