Has anyone tried to repair the wind direction dial on the WD200 ? Mine hasn't worked for years. I stripped it down today. The pointer on the dial was very stiff to move. I pulled the wind direction pointer off the spindle ...it was a do or die job! Pushed it back on, connected it up and lo and behold it worked! What I want to know is, does the spindle drive the pointer, or does the pointer, which has a small lump of metal in it, move like a compass needle on the pointed spindle? If it was stiff to move, what did I do by removing the pointer and replacing it?
This is for interest only now 'cos it works, but I would like to know how it works.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
