Photo of the ships suggests she is empty, but having just arrived from West Africa, shouldn't be full of crude oil?

Common misconception is that it is an oil tanker. It's actually a product tanker, so carries refined products like petrol and diesel. It was returning from Nigeria in ballast after making a delivery.

The master was on the bridge, the chief engineer was in the engine room, and the crew were in the citadel... More a case of "my unofficial passengers are not under command".

Technically the NUC lights are not required unless she drags but I suspect they helped to identify the ship.

I did wonder if the two brighter red lights were in fact helo ID lights as the boys roped down.
