What, Why, How? And....is it odd that I actually quite like it? It has a certain Steampunk appeal!
Turpis navicular according to my dictionary. I failed Latin o'level though!
what does that mean
it sounds like another disease after PNM

Turpis = ugly
wrong word
nauticus vulgaris could own a nice boat
but he might have an 8 x 10 pirate flag and pink and blue dubs

O I see. My mistake.
In that case dare I suggest plebeius navicular.
I don't think the Romans had a word for chav.
Easy. Keen amateur welds up his own motor cruiser, omitting ANY curved surfaces. Also installs B&Q patio sliding doors in the wheelhouse. Seen in A) Riversway Marina, Preston, and B) Humphrey's yard, river Teign.
getting close
although as a bloke raised in a council flat I am deffo a pleb
it needs a word for vulgar - vulgaris means common
I am starting to drift back towards nauticus vulgaris
it is a Latin word for chav that we need

Can I nominate "pontoon boats" as the abomination of the motor boat world.
Fortunately, these things are not often seen outside of the USA lakes, which is their natural habitat.

I can see the attraction in flat water, designed right low wash, lo power usage. I nice platform to be afloat on IF you like that type of boat...There was a mass of these at the Los Angeles boatshow (less the ladies) - was impressed by the quoted speeds of IIRC 60 + knots!
No my idea of a boat though.

I am not a fan of PWCs. Had a couple follow me and start doing that in chi harbour a couple of years ago. They left when I dropped off the plane though.
I knew a guy who worked in Portsmouth Dockyard, if he thought sombody had done or said something daft, he would shout PENIS GIGANTUS! at them..... This was occasionally followed by ERECTUS TREMENDI!..... Hope this helpswrong word
