If this helps anyone i have been emailing nasa regarding those failing cups and have managed to get a complete lower casing for the masthead unit, the new one has the spindle with the nut and a new set off cups for 26 pounds inc vat and delivery.(after asking for reduced price due to constant failures)
Nasa also tell me they have been producing this more reliable type for the last two years.

Mine still fell of so my new set have a lock nut on aswell.Maybee one day someone will take them to task for selling something not suitable for purpouse,do you think we should ask P.B.O to take this up for us (or will advertising come first) Kieron /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

They have promised to send me out a new set of these +*&^king things twice now free of charge an I am still waiting.

NASA WIND AND FRAUD!

I've had nothing but good service and advice from NASA, butr my cups did fall off after about five years and a visit to a tree.

I called up to ask if I could buy a new pin (the cups had gone and the pin - had spare cups though) and one arrived two days later free of charge. Agree the mast head wind unit may not be the best around, but all their other kit seems good and the service I've had has been good so far.

Have glued the pin back in twice now . . . unit has done over 4000 miles in 11 months since the last gluing.

It sounds like the new arrangement with a nut for the pin is a lot better - I will replace ours next time the mast is down.

I have found Allgadgets to be excellent for rapid deliveries of NASA spares.
