Any one have any first hand experience of this -- main use will be in the Eastern Med?

Yes, I had one. Worked OK and I would think it would be useful in the med. Less use in the channel though - the info it displays is German (but English language) and so limirted to where most Germans sail ie Med, North Sea, Baltic.

Yes quite good for two to five day outlook in the Med. Makes a good match with Navtex/VHF.

been using ours in eastern med for nearly 2yrs has not given any trouble & has produced acurate info pm if u want more

Agree with all above, less useful in UK, and be prepared to experiment with aerials occasionally. (depending on your boat configuration)
