Narrow boat sunk at Abingdon

It makes you wonder if some of these people should lob a couple of actors in, rather than mooring up to a bank.

Leaving a boat moored so poorly is a really bad show, as all that Oil and stuff usually ends up in the River! why do these people own a boat if they can't be bothered to moor it safely in these times?

A little harsh! we dont know the full story, dont be so narrowboatist....

Very harsh!!

I heard that it was left in the hands of the boatyard who added an extra line, the water rose on Sunday when there was nobody onsite.
The extra line was too tight causing the boat to list, the water came in through the side exhaust.
The family have owned the boat for 30 years, and are understandably devastated

Mind you, that is all via social media, so I can't guarantee its accuracy

I cross Abingdon bridge every morning and glance over at the boats moored there, several times i have noticed some at funny angles and thought the lines need adjusting also
sometimes lines come undone and the boat sideways out into the stream and left there for days. Clearly the yard cannot be relied on.

Story is that it was an air cooled engine and despite regular checks by family and boat yard the river rose quickly overnight and got in through the air intake as she listed Steve

Leaving a boat on a fixed mooring is just really stupid when the River is doing it's stuff.

Harsh!? Hey, I'm not the stupid brain dead irresponsible idiot that caused my Boat to sink because I couldn't be bothered to ensure it's safety!

This is not rocket science is it?

Wow. You're grumpy! If the owners misplaced confidence in a boatyard was their only mistake then I feel sorry for them.

So do I. They skimped on moorings though. Sometimes you need to hook the boat out, or put it on rising moorings.

They didn't...

Do not worry prof,he is highly experienced and obviously perfect.

Highly experienced and obviously perfect he may be...but I do wonder why he advised lobbing in a couple of actors as a solution??? Any in particular you've had enough of watching on TV No Regrets?
