Morning all,

I am hoping to use my free time between Xmas and NY to learn about and service the engine on my boat. It is a very inaccessible Nanni 2.40 10HP. I am trying to find out how to bleed the fuel system, does anyone have any experience or advice about doing this ?

Thanks all,

Ruth

Thanks both,

I think that what was confusing me is that there is a retro fitted pipeline onto what should have been the bleed valve which feeds back into the tank and into the supply. Very odd. Not sure why that would have been done, I'm sure I'll find out once I remove it.....

My Yanmar had a retro fitted pipe back to the tank instead of into the filter bowl. My understanding is that without the feed back to the tank you can have bubbles from the overflow fuel developing at the injectors. I just used to loosed the banjo fittings at the bowl and the injector nuts to bleed. Good luck with it-these things can be very annoying!

Thank you all! It seems you get more sense on here than from the suppliers! I've looked in all of the manuals (Nanni/beta and Kubota) and can't seem to find any recommendations for what micron fuel filter size to use - what is the 'usual'? 10um?

If you are referring to the last filter before the engine then I would expect AR Peachment https://www.peachment.co.uk/ can supply you with the correct fuel filter. Trying to source one by its micron size is probably not the best option if you are looking to buy a cheaper pattern filter. If you have a part number then you can look at inline filters https://www.inlinefilters.co.uk/ for equivalents. I would look to buy from 'premium' brands such as Fleetguard, Delphi or Mann - their filters will cost a little more but their key role is to protect your fuel pump and injectors, all of which will cost considerably more to repair should some crud get through.

The Nanni number for the N2.14 is 970622350 and that useful Inline Filters website (thanks) says that it's 5 micron. My prefilter is a bog-standard Mann P917, as used on everything.
