Nanni 2.50he starter motor

Should be the same as the Beta 14 and the Kubota Z482 they're both based on. Do your own checking though, as there seem to be different sized/number of teeth pinions fitted, whether there are different ring gear sizes I don't know; I doubt it, but sneaky manufacturers change things seemingly for the sole purpose of costing us money.

Is this still current? I stumbled over this by accident. That %¤#¤ starter can only be removed by removing the alternator, oil pressure switch and heat exchanger endplate.. Have just done that. Mine is marked Mitsubishi M3T 12V.

Ours had this annoying problem when it said click, but the motor never engaged, seemingly ar random when the engine was still warm. We have taken it apart and cleaned the solenoid, albeit not the contacts as the solenoid is pressed shut, but we cleaned the solenoid anchor and greased it and also put on some penetrating grease on the piniong. We will also add a relay to be controlled by the the cable that goes from the starter key to the solenoid. That will engage the relay who then feeds 12V directly to the solenoid. Less drop that way.

Wish us luck!

No problem. I also found this: December 2018
Someone who did a rather thurough teardown of that same engine.
One thing I have not been able to figure out is whether there is an sacrificial anode in the seawater system or not. The Nanni manual has a mantion of it, marked 4.333 TDI which I assume is an engine model? It is on the wrong place in the English-language maintenance schedule, at 20h. For other languages it asys every 100h :)

What is the problem with your starter?

I think the only seawater anode on these is the one that screws in to the exhaust elbow. Has a brass? hex bolt head on it.

If it was not fitted originally it probably did not need it. The specification of the heat exchanger (which is what the anode is protecting) may have changed in later models. My Nanni 14 from 2009 did have an anode.

I had my heat exchanger completely off and dismantled last year (2.45 ECO but mostly same as 2.5) and no other anode in that assembly. Guess mine must be at least 15 years old. Only clag and scale in the heat exchanger, no corrosion. Elbow was end of life though.

As an aside, getting the heat exchanger off in situ is a real pain as one of the nuts on the underside short studs is almost inaccessible. Needed a long slim spanner to remove and forceps (plus a lot of patience) to put it back on.

Got this from Nanni:

Dear Sir,

One sacrifial anod is fitted on the aluminium exhaust elbows only. The cast iron previous version did not include any anods.

Dealing with the heat exchanger O ring issues, We effectively noticed in the past that Engine whom missed the 2 years/400h O ring replacement may experience some leaks , hence leading to some corrosion on the aluminium casing.
To reinforce that point, a kit has been created. For your engine the kit ref is KSAV03. (there are now 2 O rings each side separated by a stainless ring)

I hope this will help.

Best regards
