Has anybody gone through the process of a name change via U.K. ship register and a rough idea of the cost ?

I normally ask for a quotation for anything I want doing and then make a decision...........wish I’d done it this time !

I've done it a few times, but can't remember the cost. I suspect that's because the new decals cost more than the paperwork. Is it Part 1 or SSR?
Now I’ve done a little investigating, it’s been put on ships register part 1 when it should really have been put on the small ships register.

you guys are lucky, changing a name in a GR registered boat is inxs 1k (for no apparent reason, you just have to reissue a sh1tload of papers again). hence all suggest to change name when you're buying a boat so together with the new paperwork, this is sort of hidden and doesn't hurt much :)

Only 1k................

? Mmm. I bought boat, changed name, updated Mars and Ofcom for free, got pickled with Ole Nep till we were telling each other I love you. Went out the next day and got some pontoon rash to christen her and its been fine ever since.

So, can someone enlighten me where I may have cocked up because everytime Ive had to deal with a main dealer the paperwork I get back is in the old name.

If it’s this boat in Cap Ferrat , looks Italian reg and brokers request €3000 for the “ irradiation of the flag “ . They all try it on btw .
This is up for negotiation btw , best done over a beer while closing the deal .
Depending on the port it can be few hundred if DIY ....MapisM will know more .

French Brokers count your fingers after a handshake.:)

Is that a proforma invoice or has the de-reg / name change already been done?

It’s already been done, I spoke with the company last night and they are looking at trying to reduce the cost !

They had to visit the boat and carry out a tonnage survey.........I was on the boat when the guy arrived and he was there less than 30 min, when I asked why he’d registered it part 1 and not small ships register..........he didn’t know.

Even billed me 110 Euro for a courier !
