N W Mob Group

It has a place and has some good info on there.
But it has been kicked by the knockers from the start they did not even give it a chance.
I see it is not a new forum just an extra place to store interesting items.
Somewhere to post a forth coming events or post a copy (I don't think any one will accuse anyone of double posting) of a post like Philiz trip with photos and we will be able to find it without having to search though 1000s of posts elsewhere on mobo, or the lounge.
Maybe a copy of Little Ships trip to Scotland.

So why not lets use it for a reference/storage place.

It's so easy to get to it's on every page you go to on any of the forums.

Top of the page on the blue bar "Community" drop down just high-lite Social Groups and click on the NW MOB icon.
Go on give it a try.

Salty me awld Mate
Not knockin it, no chance
Just it seems to me that divertin stuff away from the 'Preffered Channel' as it were
Is just diluting the Forum
There are probably some real interesting bits of stuff on the likes of the Bristol Channel mob and the Thames mob etc etc etc
But heck-- I never look, there is so much going on on ere most of the time.
As you do probably.
I look at me Motorbike forumy stuff too
Other peeps have other hobbies, pastimes and Forums to look at too.
Then there are the Porn channels:D

The fringe forums started dieing years ago. The fuel forum was really useful, for us cruising more than a few miles. But I have not looked at it for yonks.

In fact I'm looking here less and less, hardly anything interesting happens.

Think it's about time fringe forums were closed down, to keep a semblance of interest.

Useful info on NW Mob Community

Agree about storing useful info especially for those planning on visiting the area

Tidal charts for Menai Canal, Bardsey, Anglesey. Latest buoy positions for Caernarfon , Porthmadog , Barmouth? are some.

The craic is better on here.

Make them southerners a bit envious of the cameraderie and the area.

Phils photos of his hairy legs are so much better than their wakeshots!:)

The law of diminishing returns, or divide and conquer.

As I said at the beginnings, the more you divide the forums up, the less response.

Have to say I agree. Before the Lounge mobo was a lively place....not so much now :-(

+1

Whilst the NW isn't my 'turf' (or should that be seaweed perhaps?) I think this is spot on. If I were visiting an area (or as in my case new to boating), the first place I would look would be a local group to see if there's any useful information. I think if people post recommendations/local tips etc these could become valuable resources simply because the threads stay 'live' longer as there is less posted. I've looked at quite a few of the groups and even created one for South Devon. As I learn more, I'll happily post my experiences and as the group is open, hope others will too. Looking for such threads on the main forums can be quite hard as searching on 'Dartmouth' for instance will return a lot of results, but (for example) a thread titled 'places to eat in Dartmouth' or 'visitor moorings on the Dart' in a small group would be easier to find? Most things are better on the main forums, but some things perhaps better suited in a local group?
