Mystery new powerboat spotted at Ben Ainslie Racing

Hence what appears to be an out-drive leg in the photo?

Yup. Also looks like a mini van Dutch...... either way given thee appears to be an air intake over the engines, they must be big hungry lumps .......Volvo 400 hp’s. Would be insanely fast....... and wet.

Anyway, if it’s a BAR product, surely it should have a dirty great foil on it somewhere ? Maybe that’s on the other trailer ?

Two of them, actually. The choice of VP power suggests that extreme speed is not what the boat is all about, though...
Interesting to see the different deadrises in the pic below, btw.

my thoughts too,

the screen and helm looks too far forward for anything interested in outright speed.

looks like it is going to be a glorified PR boat to transport VIPs about for when they ermmmm, crash out at an early stage and claim its all part of the process having spend a huge about of sponsors money...

Looks a very conservative and dull hull shape nothing to get excited about; MTB lines. The colour scheme is rather more interesting however!!

It’s kinda interesting the hull shape from what can be seen so far .

Deadrise looks low ,or could be greater ?

The front 1/2 is finer more V than most competitors.
But the rear 2-3 M it’looks pretty flatish for stern lift and general lift to reduce drag and that’s where the iron lumps are ,just behind the transom.Plus the outdrives hung out the back of the hull .

So that’s the compromise,
Looking at it the expectations I think is running in say marginal seas for its size the sharper / finer mid sections should do the wave cleaving job .
So far so good .But if the wave L is LONG and sharp / steep , it s flat aft sections if it starts to fly ( take off on wave crests ) that’s gonna hit — well slam When it lands .
Of course they can,t keep the V sharp all the way back cos they need the lift of the shollower deadrise ,
typical sterndrive conundrum.
Happy to be wrong and see a reinvention of the “ wheel “

I think it will land badly if driven hard

They are daft it’s the UW profile that needs covering up , not the boring top sides

Looks like some kind of tribute to an old design. I do not see anything ultra modern in that design ..., then maybe it’s just me.

Today’s aspiration for the favoured few with their bank balance inversely proportional to their IQ. Unlikely to be tomorrow’s classic, but having been brought up with Morgan Giles, Alan Burnard and Sonny Levi as my heroes.....who knows.

Actually the in the water shots ,to me shows a “ bow high “type of boat .
I wonder what the vis will be like running ?
Tabbing it down to safely see Fwds - kinda shoots the performance angle in the foot .

Like to know the “ wet “ experience of the design team behind it .
Like have they ever used fast boat - often - and long enough ??

Yup great idea nice fancy £££ helm seats - only to stand to able to see Fwds -

Its the new royal yacht Britannia surely? One must cut one's cloth accordingly. The corgis wont be impressed though
