Lets hope he has scrambled ashore and not yet reported in.
I think that the named person is probably the owner but as he is missing could not be confirmed as definitely being on board at the time. They have to be absolutely positive before making statements for obvious reasons.
Always my biggest fear......sail mainly single handed, mainly with autopilot on, tend to dance around the deck changing head sails and flying the kite, one day a little tumbble and away she goes as I tred water till hypothermia hits........I think this does not look too good for this owner, he will not be the first nor will he be the last.....lets hope for some good news!!
That's the reason that old sailors on square riggers rarely wore life jackets - they preferred to drown quickly as there was no chance of the ship turning back.
