My year old Eberspacher has just started smoking.

Heat exchanger is cast alloy - combustion chamber is stainless. I've just stripped and re-built mine and I've seen it!

Water up the exhaust shouldn't cause any problems - it can't get at anything critical. If water is trapped in a "dip" in the exhaust it could cause excessive back pressure - take exhaust off at Eber and try to blow through it.

My Airtronic D2 is now nearly 3 years old and done nearly 6,500 hours running (6,300 with no problems). The full strip-down/de-coke/rebuild has it running as sweet as ever. Full instructions/diagrams available in PDF form on http://www.espar.com.

Cheers, Jerry
