Well it always happens.

You arrive, berth, check your lines then leave the boat. Just one last look behind to see if she's Ok and then you realise just how tiny she is.. :ambivalence:

This Heesen Superyacht - 'My Sky' dominated the Skyline under the Spinnaker tower at Gunwharf, Portsmouth yesterday.

My little Azimut 46 - 'Houston' measures in at just under 50 feet, 'My Sky' just visible behind at 51 Metres!

She is registered in George Town and the ensign is at least 5 metres long:

Interesting that her skipper is 28 years old and according the dockmaster, one of the most competent and relaxed skippers to have been in with a big'un.

The overall size is hard to describe unless you think more of a cruise ship off Southampton dockside.

'My Sky' builder is 'Heesen' like this:

If you're interested in the boat as some of us are, here is a link to the story::encouragement:

I was told that the skipper is waiting for a weather window at the moment and will be taking a southern route before heading west to the states. It's always nice to these in our local waters as so often, they just disappear for warm blue seas and we never see them again.:ambivalence:

Nice boat eh?

Oh, my! Motoring to the States. But the oil price is falling and won't bother the owner anyway.

I had a look on way out of Portsmouth yesterday, she's well proportioned. Might hog the fuel pontoon though taking on 80,000 litres.

In Mallorca there are lots of these hanging around ( South of France probably more so). I always feel sorry for the bloke with a 50 meter, when a 60 meter turns up next door, or Lady Muira parks up with an Augusta 109 on the roof! There is always someone with a bigger one!

So true, some friends of ours were staying on a buoy off Sardina, northern harbour on a fairly large sailing cat. They noticed a big 100 footer coming in. His swmbo had to go down to get showered etc. and when she came back, she asked where it went. The reply was,"In the marina."

"Where in the marina?" she asked, the reply was, "In there, between those 200 footers!" the boat had completely disappeared. :ambivalence:

Jimmy, I have to agree, Right off the planet! but great to be up close with them, especially over here.

RR

btw. I was pleased that nobody suggested that I DO need a skipper. :o

Your story reminded me of this pic that I've posted before (this is the IYCA in Antibes):

The 'little' boat in the gap between the superyachts is a Mangusta 92, iirc... :D

Tee hee! If you pan left even some of the 50m boats look small on that quay. In defence of the Mangusta it is among a bunch of c90m boats rather then "mere" 50m jobs- [geekdom] from L to R the 4 big boats are Sarafasa (beautiful transom, and made in UK @Devonport!, Mayan Queen (two tones of grey on the hull), then 100m+ Lady Moura (qv), then half out of shot Nirvana [/geekdom]

Hah, I didn't know we had 'anorakas' on Super yachts. ;)

So how big would the little dark blue boat be between... Lady Moura (qv), then half out of shot Nirvana on the right side of the piccy be?
