A *170 tonne* transformer being lifted, but they won't move an old fishing boat?
Y'know, you may have a point there......

I don't believe you. Are you joking?A *170 tonne* transformer being lifted, but they won't move an old fishing boat?
Don't know where or when but it's more interesting than words;-

Statistically, there is one post for every ten views, approximately.![]()
Will you, LS or shall I? Very well then , the 170 ton tranny was loaded in another part of the marina, North corner of the inner lock.
So the lowloader doesn't need to go far then......

Fair enough!
In other news, this is Preston's very latest position, from just a few minuted ago:
"Of course we will allow it. We very much want it to happen, and it is not very difficult to do but it must be done properly. At the time of writing we believe the owner of that boat is making their own external enquiries into launching the boat - which is fine with us. We have not been instructed to launch the boat but stand ready to make preparations if so required. Our position is summarised at http://www.prestonmarina.co.uk/core_pages/EZMR.htm and remains the current position at this time."
"In addition - approx 2 weeks ago we made the owner aware of a new development which could significantly reduce the cost of the launch, but we have not had a response from the owner at the time of writing."

So what's this new development...?
Who did you have in mind?We could all 'Sponsor a Plank' as well.
And, as I've mentioned over and over, it's all down to insurance. Preston Marina may well have the contacts and commercial weight to convince underwriters that the ground survey isn't necessary - yet they don't seem to want to exploit this.
