Ha, I have lived aboard for three years this last time, but I don't go round dissing others dreams and calling their boats 'white elephants', I wonder why?

If you really are confused and really wonder why maybe your carer could help .:triumphant:

Did you see that the lady in question who was the editor, has recently won the lottery main prize?

Surprise, she has ceased working fulltime and is buying a new boat! :)

I hadn't until I spoke to Roxy the other week! Sent her a message wishing them well but never heard back - assume her in box was full of begging letters!

A carbuncle and a cyst,
Perhaps you might desist?
To the table bring ye nowt
Save dour gloom, hollow shout.

Perhaps when the weather eases your mood will turn away from the hidey keyboard abusive to the ''what useful help can I add"?

BUT....My carer thinks I am wasting my time and simply 'don't get it' !

Where do you liveaboard Mr Clyst ? Do you have a name? Does anyone on here know you? What boat? Iis it wood , are you a surveyor? Are you three times Ellie's age?
Do you have the relevant Elephantae Blancae qualifications to judge and cast down on others. Perhaps you are an NHS Registered carer and mean well... . Is your boat a pullpit ?
So many questions in life eh?
You like to dish it out, but can you take it,eh? And why bother to be unpleasant, who gains ?

Wow so many questions but I m not going to enter into a battle of wits with an unarmed man . This thread is drifting far too much as it is Bluey without your inane comments so please ,back on subject .

Fair enuff.
Back on t' subject which is , this being 'Practical' boat owner related questions, is there any wealth of experience here that can be brought to bear to assist a fellow boat owner?

Btw this thread has hit 100,000. Not bad but as yet no ground survey afaik nor splash , with or without the cash
I must confess I am about out of ideas
It would be a huge mistake to give up after so much..

I think every conceivable sensible way of getting the boat into the water has been discussed and re-discussed many times. It's plain and simply down to money . As I have said before cough up or shut up She seems to have shut up . draw your own conclusions Bluey . It wouldn't be the first time someone has bought a boat and then realised that it requires a lot of money thrown at it one way or another . The boatyards are littered with dreams that turn into nightmares . Even Preston may have one .

In this case, Ellie has also claimed to be an expert in what she called 'digital marketing strategy' and, despite that, it is increasingly looking as if she has gone off in a huff the moment things have got a bit difficult. I agree with others who have said that it is very rude.

She does seem to have left a trail of abandoned blogs and twitter accounts and has a surprisingly small online presence for a freelance digital marketing consultant. Still, I did, after a quick and not-at-all-stalkerish search find this, which suggests an intriguing consistency of approach to boat funding

This LinkedIn profile extract is interesting, too

After living on my 37ft sailing yacht for five years, I have now taken ownership of 'Elizmor', a 53ft wooden ex-fishing boat built in 1948 which I am relaunching and recommissioning for a sea voyage. Applying all of my digital marketing skills to the project, I have already attracted over 20,000 page views on www.elizmor.co.uk and secured sponsorship from big marine brands such as [deleted], [deleted], [deleted] and [deleted]. Britain's best-selling boating magazine Practical Boat Owner has commissioned a 4-5 page feature about the first stage of 'project Elizmor'.

Re Clyst:

It ain't over till the fat lady takes that long-due swim!

Your boat, my boat, each boat I have ever owned ( and least not forget the OP has owned a boat living on it and maintaining it from age 18, not too bad eh?
How many of us can say thst eh? And not up rotting away up some forlorn river mud berth but marina-rised as a player and working in a growth industry.
Soooo. I await further factual information before writing the situation off.

Maybe the OP is back at work right now and earning the whatever needed to get a splash , gosh, whatever next? And jolly good luck with that too.
My own earning power at her age was laughable, hers seems laudable
