Great pictures. Thankyou for posting . Graceful lines eh?

As to the lengths we go to to get to where this thread is now (and since Will Shakespeare appears to have wandered in to lend a hand)...

" but at the end, truth shall out " *

I knew someone of the ' can do' persuasion would have recollection of a good crane and lift job!

* Ironic that this quote comes of course from The Merchant of Venice , perhaps better known for the infamous '' pound of flesh '' line....

Pretty obvious it's 2001. Some of the bystanders are wearing shell-suits and who would be seen dead on Preston Marina in a shell suit in 2014?

True. Mind you, the owners of one (steel) fishing boat at Kirkcudbright lopped the front six feet off her with a vertical slice so she'd fit on the end of the quay. Most of the pointy bit was replaced witha traingular metal sheet. Looks most odd.

I thought that was to reduce the size so it didn't have to conform to the bigger size regulations.

I don't know if Ellie is still reading this thread, but reading about her on the internet, she is obviously a very resourceful person. Perhaps she is off building up her cash reserves. In any case, I really hope she achieves what she wants to do with elizmor. Good luck Ellie.

And well done to Preston marina for a professional approach.

This is getting ridiculous. Launch cancelled for the second time. The marina have insurance issues again. I have bought a boat in a boatyard and just want to launch her!

Will keep you updated.

In the meantime, still on the hunt for a 50kg anchor :)

would it be less grief to load it onto transport and take it somewhere else that can cope with launching? this type of lift would put less stress on the key.
I know this is a barmy idea but is it not time to consider the oddball ideas.

there is a sort of satisfying circularity about these long threads

you should try a 5 million hit youtube film about flower pots - round and round they go

Why do you think it would "put less stress on the key"?

How do you get the boat onto the transport vehicle ? crane ?

Less reach as the crane would not have to "jib out", direct lift then back low loader under the boat.
1t at 2m is twice the point load of 1t at 1m.

I said it was oddball.

So instead of just paying a few quid for a ground survey, you'd suggest that hiring a low-loader and paying for another lift elsewhere would be more cost-efficient?
