No problem on Fotango

A lot of my mates use that site, it seems to be a good place to put your pics.

Nice boat, any trips planned yet? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Well with a 75hp motor on the back, it must go well.

Its not too bad....I believe the top speed is around 27knots (fastest I've been so far is 24), but it seems to get there quickly. The 75hp Merc is the smallest of the bigger engines (if that makes sense)...basically, it's the same engine as the 90 and 115.....So it's somewhat overengineered for it's size....Thats what I've been told anywhy...........But when I was pondering about buying the boat, I could have paid an extra 1000 quid for the 90hp, now, I'm really glad I didn't...I've saved the money for a nice awning for the back of the boat......To be fitted when I find a good company.

Re: merc 115/90/75...

That's right, they're the same engine. The 75 and 90 are near identical, except for the fuel injection settings which are souped up on the 90 to give it an extra 1000rpm top end. The 115 is still the same engine, but it is stroked out to give it 1750cc instread of 1600cc. So yes, your 75 is pretty "unstressed".

The engine powerheads are made by yamaha, bolted to a proprietary merc leg. These yamaha engines are generally regarded as an exceptionally good design. Purpose designed for an outboard, not a converted car engine

I am sure that you will get a lot of enjoyment out of the boat based where you are. If you can weekend in her then you have some fantastic (if somewhat busy at times) opportunities available to you - including forum BBQ meets (onawhim or planned!).
If you are into fishing then there is plenty of that too.
Regarding an awning/camper canvas I suggest that you spend a bit of time on the boat to establish exactly what you want it to do, and whats important - then get someone to fabricate it for you. There are a number of good firms in this market.
Phaeton is simply a scaled up model of your craft and I get a lot of use out of her because of the combination of flexible cockpit space/shelter/storage/foredeck.
I suspect you will burn around 12l/ph at 20knots and have a good usable range well over 100 miles - this should mean that as long as you start with a full tank you can go out knowing you can get home on most realistic trips (you won't want to spend more than 5 hours travelling in a day even in the most idylic conditions!)
Oh and don't forget to order and forum burgee at the earliest opportunity!

Really can't wait for the weather to perk up a little (Although, I can't really complain so far....we've had 4 cracking outings over christmas.

Am most definately into fishing, and have so far landed two massive 4oz pouting from the boat (struggled with them for at least 2 mins).

She is a weekender and has a well proportioned sleeping area vs out side are compared to other similar boats...which suited us, as we didn't want an out and out fisher.

That good advice about the awning...and I already have a different idea as to what I want after using the boat a few times. Basically, with a cover for the outside, at a push we could sleep 4 on the boat In warm weather). But I realise now that a frame in the center of the back of the boat would be quite intrusive, so I want to try and get one fabricated that will really hang over the transom.....I'll speak to a few companies at the boat show, and ring round a few local companies.

And tell me more of this infamous Forum Burgee...wher can I get one, or will a pair of horrible xmas boxer shorts hung from my VHF arial do the trick...

Cheers.

Paul.

fish - had a 22lb cod from a mark well within your range - but someone else had a 38lb just round the corner from you last weekend!
you would be amazed what can be done re canvas - there are a number of mods I would make to the standard fittings I have and would be happy to go through them with you.
