My 895

I see they have 2 x stock 895s and I believe they recently put a used one on youtube. The couple on youtube who have Rezzy bought their 895 from BHG and spoke highly of the sales chap there. At least buying a stock 895 you don’t have almost a year’s wait, plus they haven’t yet upgraded the 895 like the 795 series 2 So you’re not getting an older model as such. Enjoy your new boat.
Thanks, I have seen the YouTube vids from Rezzy too.Definatly helped the decision especially episode 7 fuel v speed.

Good point ... outboards and tenders - not impossible but more tricky than snap davits.

Totally agree, I have a 1095 and I am going through the tender decision making at the moment

Have a look over in the jeanneau owners forum (sorry can’t seem to add links - lack of posts I think) there are a number of threads discussing dinghies and solutions for 885’s.

Also the Jeanneau powerboat usa owners facebook page there is a post on 16th august 2020 by marcus hecht which shows a tender mounted over the outboards, this one is on a 1095 but similar to others i’ve seen on 895’s.

as seastoke says it’s a stock boat, I have been quoted October for delivery now

That's good. A Jeanneau dealer told me Jeanneau doesn't keep stock boats as such but just the slots to build them (I guess limited space plus all boats have there own specific ordered extras). There is currently a shortage of Yamaha outboard motors so that is apparently causing an issue but hopefully that should be resolved by the time you get your 895 (assuming you want yamaha engines).

Thanks for the comments and recommendations. Much appreciated. I'm pleased to be supplying a new Merry Fisher 895 to Martxer and to have it locally as well.

It's in the paint shed today, it should come out with a lovely new coat of antifouling soon.

I have seen them with a single engine but I have been informed its a better boat with a twin setup

I would get a single 300. Halve your servicing costs, reduce your fuel bill by a decent amount and save money on the purchase price. Top speed will be very similar and get a bow thruster to help when berthing etc. The only benefit in having two engines is reliability and the safety net of having a second engine. When was the last time you heard of a newish modern outboard failing? Limp home mode, maybe, but total failure is very very rare.

The boat is so much better with twin engines. It's designed from the ground up to be a twin engined boat, so it's a bit compromised with a single engine. It's designed to have the weight of twin engines on the back, it's better balanced with them, it also has two fuel tanks, so you have a changeover valve for a single engine setup - not idea. And of course the maneuverability is hugely improved with twins.

Interestingly, the boat is much more fuel efficient when cruising with the twin 200hp engines than the single 300hp. Much better. It's also quieter. The single 300hp has to be worked very hard to keep it on the plane, especially with some weed on the bottom, as a result it cruises at a much higher RPM than the twin 200hp engines. Higher RPM cruising means more fuel consumed. Basically you work the engine harder to keep it on the plane, which uses more fuel.

You're right, it's considerably more expensive to buy the Offshore with twin 200hp engines (or the standard boat with twin 175s) over the single F300, BUT, the Offshore boat will hold its value better than the single engined boat. I would say as much as 4 out of 5 people buy the Offshore over the standard boat in my experience!

All boats are built to order at the factory. Currently with a bit of a waiting list too!

Bob and Nicky's videos have been great! Stay tuned for some collaboration later this summer showing more of what we do here at BHG Marine and Berthon. (y)
