My 895

On the fuel consumption also consider that you feed the horses only when they work. And the more work (HP) you demand, the more 'food' they'll take.
Hence driving the boat at speeds where thrust is used to move it forward at least possible effort will stretch the fuel.

And all the hours berthed, anchored or pottering around will send the actual spend on fuel notably below what is stated in tests. Not that tests are not true, they just do not reflect (my) average use patterns.

Still true after 53 years of motor boating and 7 different boat/engine combos ?

Our workrib had twin 250 hp outboards, it took a lot of fuel, something like 100 LTRs an hour if I remember, we did zoom about all day, I guess if you buy something with those size engines you are not going to pootle around at 10 knts

it should do 2mpg at 26 knots which is what I had got my head round spending on fuel at the start of the journey.

6 knots considerably more

Twin 250hp outboards will be more like 200 lph at wot

Congrats on ordering the 895 I really like them. I was told there was around an 11 month wait for a newly ordered Merry Fisher some months ago, and what is the timescale you have been given for yours?

I see they have 2 x stock 895s and I believe they recently put a used one on youtube. The couple on youtube who have Rezzy bought their 895 from BHG and spoke highly of the sales chap there. At least buying a stock 895 you don’t have almost a year’s wait, plus they haven’t yet upgraded the 895 like the 795 series 2 So you’re not getting an older model as such. Enjoy your new boat.
