There has been a collision between to freighters in the Baltic. I have tried to overlay the AIS tracks, the Scot is the track on the right and The Karin is on the left. It appears that as they both exited the TSS one of them altered course, but it is not clear on this free AIS viewer who did what because the interval between plots is too high so you could easily draw the wrong conclusion. It is reported that it was foggy at the time of the colision.

Both with radar, both with AIS .......... It doesn't sound or look good for either. All souls accounted for according to the radio which is one piece of good news ............... scary !!.
 
The tracks on Marine Traffic look strange for Scot Carrier. Karin Hoej appears to have been on a straight course.

Yes, I think the OP has it the wrong way round: the Scot Carrier is the one on the right, and appears to have altered course from 220° to 24°. She was travelling at twice the speed of the Karin Hoej, but from the free AIS (as the OP notes), it's hard to know what the change of course represents: collision avoidance? an attempt to pass behind the stern of the KH? a post-collision change of course? Sad news re the crew in the water...
 
I don't think I have made any mistakes, the track on the right is the MV Scot and that it what I have written. The labels are the other way around because that was the position of the boats at the time when I took the screen shot.
 
Scot Carrier was going to Ystad, which is to the west, so needed to turn to starboard at this TSS 'junction'. Karin Høj was going to Nykøbing in Denmark, and would have been continuing straight on to the southwest. It looks like Scot Carrier overtook Karin Høj to port then turned to starboard into her. The rest of her track looks like coming back to help then bumbling around waiting.

The Swedish coastguard have started a negligence investigation and say they also have reason to suspect other crimes, including being drunk in charge. (Sorry for loose terminology, I'm translating from Finnish here). They don't mention who they suspect this of.

The sea search for the two crew from the Karin Høj has been called off, as they wouldn't have survived this long in the 4°C water.
 
I don't think there was any attempt to right her. It would need some really heavy lifting gear. She was taken under tow inverted just a few hours after the collision, not enough time to attempt to right her.
 
Sad. loss of life if it was avoidable.
Let us hope they did the Drugs/Alch screening process properly, otherwise guilty people walk away.........
