I'm wondering if people have bought kit from the outlet store before. I'm considering a set of oilskins. I live to far away to visit, can you order and have them posted to you? Is this easy and effective?

I've used the one at 'Clarke's Village' Somerset, but no idea about mail order. Phone one and ask.

I did too and got a huge discount against list on 'his and hers' BR2- I think it may have been previous season style.

I stuck my head in a few months ago and wasn't so struck by big discounts, and thought you could get similar prices at on line discounters

The outlet in ashford is very hit and miss. Sometimes there's lots of 'proper' sailing kit, other times it's all just t shirts and what not.

When they do have proper kit in it certainly does appear good value.

There were Musto MPX jackets and trousers at Gloucester Quay outlet in L plus usual giant and small sizes at £230 ish each piece also BR1

Thanks guys
I'd heard there were some good deals but they were a bit hit and miss. Was really wondering about ordering specifically from the outlet stores as they don't seem to have online stores. Living in Scotland they are a little far away.

I live about 45 minutes away from the Musto and Henri Lloyd outlets at Ashford, Kent and hardly worth the effort travelling from here.

As others have said sometimes not a lot in other than fashion clobber and if for example they do have the latest drysuit for £400 it's either in XXS or XXL.

If you're imagining racks of half price sailing gear, with serious discounts just because it's last year's line, you'll be disappointed.

People do get lucky, less likely if you want a L rather than XXXL!

The outlet at Gunwharf Quays is now a dead loss. It's moved location and is only a fraction of its former self.

My wife still managed to spend >£200 there today! Apparently its current location is temporary and they will be moving into the store that Saltrock are going out of, that still looks smaller than their old place though.

I have found this to be true for the three outlets I have visited. Ashford, Brighton and Portsmouth. Very little in the stores even worth looking at.

I have used the store in Gloucester several times. Its a bit hit amd miss but worth a visit if passing. Purchased sailing trouses (not sailing suit) for about £45 gloves for £4. Most suits are either extra large or very small.
