Music/sound in the saloon

Most of car audio devices needs to stay connected to the 12VDC to keep the stetting. When I'm not on my boat I switch off all electricity, so my audio loosed all settings. This was for me there reason to remove a cheap car device (from Aldi or something like that) and replace it with a Chinese thing.A disadvang

A small solar panel should be enough to keep up with the drain of the memory. Wire the always on bit between battery and isolator and all would be fine.

just take the bilge pump float switch feed to the radio memory.

I have a 'ta2020' tripath amp, running two cheap bookshelf speakers and it sounds utterly fantastic.

They are less than 20 quid on ebay.

That and my phone is all I need. Although I have a bluetooth receiver which means the phone isn't tied to a cable all the time.

Me too - great little amps, plus draws hardly any power.

Now i have been looking at these little amps, are there any in particular that are regarded as the best? Ebay has hundreds of the things.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the US named it one of the 20 most innovative microschips.

They sound great. Only option is output power.

I replaced an old GME unit with the aldi one to get bluetooth connection mainly because I couldn't hear the phone ring when the radio was playing. The GME lost all the settings when power was disconnected. The aldi one doesn't seem to do this. No idea why.

Do you not have an auto bilge pump wired away from the master switch(es)? Agree with poster above about solar, my wind/solar negates any affect the radio makes while we are away from the boat.

+1 for the cheapo chinese job! I'm on my second (first went with the last boat) For £12 the sound is awesome, usb, audio-in, sd card, and FM tuner and remote control. At that price they're disposable. I keep meaning to open mine up to disable the disco light show...

Connect a resistor from the DIM connection on the back to your 'compass light' switch (if you have one). This will reduce the firework display. You may have to experiment with the value of the resistor as I think it's designed to be connected to the dimmable instrument lights on a car.

I have a BOSE sound link mini. Amazing sound Bluetoothed from my phone or tab. can all be recharged form 12V supply. The BOSE can be placed anywhere within Bluetooth range and it is very compact. Expensive but well worth it.

+1

Thought it was a big risk to spend the money, but it was more than worth it. An amazing sound from a small speaker. As well as music, ifeed my TV through it with a cable, rather than bluetooth.

Well i reckon this cheap Chinese amp is much better sound than my Cambridge Audio Minx (similar to the Bose)

If it's a Tripath TA2020 it may well do. Stunning bit of IC design. First true digital amplifier that worked well.
