Mrecruiser 3 litre 270HP -low on power, high on fuel

The black art aspect really comes into play when you look to squeeze the last bit of performance out of a setup.

When you're chugging along at a good 30 knots and a friend comes along in his Mercury 225 hp 16' steering console with hydraulic outboard lift, running only on the very last bit of the hull, you know what detail-orientated persistence can lead to. A bit over 60 knots in this video.

You can't see it, but it requires constant correction on the throttle and steering wheel to keep it balancing...

And if you hit a ripple at that speed you will take off.

Chances of WOT and trimmed out full in the Solent are like hens teeth ...

Indeed. The mirror surface that all speedsters look for is a bit rare.

I'm moving house (mentioned in an earlier post), and in early September, I drove the boat to its new marina, in time to put it in winter storage on the hard.

A sunny day, <2 m/s wind, two gents with a generous lunch prepared by the Admiral, and plenty of cold snacks to keep us floating.
It was such a beautiful day that we refrained from going fast. We spent 11 fabulous hours covering 85.2 nm.

Chatting, enjoying the views and feelin' good.
