Hi! Just a quick question that's got me curious. I'm looking to upscale my boat and move onto it (something I've always wanted to do, but never got around to it). I was wondering - I get various benefits (mainly child for my 2 children, 10 and 12y/o). I was wondering how these work when you don't have an actual address? Looking at websites like this income tax calculator we would definitely be more stretched for cash if we didn't have the extra money from benefits. Has anyone else here been in a similar situation with any idea what to do? Hope to hear from someone soon :)

Strongly advise you keep a UK onshore address and preferably on an electoral role. Otherwise life can suddenly become far more complicated.

Would I be able to use a relatives address for this? I have family that lives relatively close to where I live now that would let us do this. Thank you for the advice!

Any address is fine - we've been out of the UK for almost 5 years now sailing and the address for legal stuff is still the marina I left from and for bank stuff is the in-laws. Its all fine, legal and above board - even homeless people on the street can receive benefits using a hostel address etc so you would have no problem with using a relatives.

Doubt if you would recieve housing benefit, though.
