Moving ECF up the Forum List.

History: I requested this forum be set up for a similar thing to Cherbourg - The annual Voor Anker/Bank Holiday weekend in Ostend,so that is how it came to be in Forum Member Events.
Bristol CHannel also started out as a single event.
The Thames Forum is a bit different, as that also incorporated all Inland Waterways too, and Richasrd Shead one of the foundlings.

I don't want to see it moved either. The only problem we had was when a west coast trouble maker and I were having a spat, and he fetched it in here. It got short shrift, quite rightly.

I must admit that if anything, it would be good to move Thames down hereabouts rather than the other way around.

Ricky: Solent folk have never gelled sufficiently to maintain a group, but this one has its own momentum, and never needs maintainance or moderation. Events happen somehow, and the attendance remains remarkably stabel around the 40 mark for supper attendance and 80ish for Pirates weekend.

Rule 1: There are no rules
Rule 2: If in doubt, see Rule 1 above.

My personal vote is to leave things where they are......

Being down here is just what East coast sailing is about. A pleasant meander through some well-known topics, waving to a few familiar faces along the way (but not so many that it feels crowded) and a quiet anchorage and a chat at the end of the passage. We should stay down here!

With the new forum layout and how the Quick Navigation works now, I think the ECF needs to be moved up the list near (above) Lounge. I've PM'ed The Mods. If you agree do the same. The Thames Forum is up there, why not us.
A better idea would be to move the Thames forum to be near ECF, so all the location forums are together.

Don't you think it would have been good form to ask all the other users of this forum what their thoughts on a move were before you took it upon yourself to get this forum moved. The people who actually originated this forum wanted it left where it was, as did every other person who posted on this thread.

This forum has always been a place where people are considerate towards others, even if they don't agree with their views.

Why has this forum been moved?? From what I can see only one person wanted it moving.

Sorry, I was testing how easy it is to move forums around. I have moved it back to its old position for now. What was the consensus... Maybe I should start a poll?

Thank you Natalie for puting us back in our proper place. Don't thing you need a poll, just read what people have posted.

There is a GOD, and he (she) does listen.:D

The current ordering of the forums may be a result of previous history but it is neither logical, sensible or convenient!

It's a nuisance having to scroll past

Website news and feedback
Ships Forum
Stolen Boats and Gear
The Book Club
Pub, bar and restaurant recommendations
Fuel Price Forum
Jester challenge
Race game forum
Scuttlebutt Cherbourg Cruise 2010
Scuttlebutt Cherbourg Cruise 2011
Scuttlebutt Cherbourg Cruise 2012

The virtual pub
and SBC Crewing Opportunities Forum

before finally arriving at the East Coast Meeting Forum

which is misleading filed under "Forum Member Events" and isn't just about meetings!!!

I realise I may be a lone voice in the wilderness here but at the risk of making myself unpopular (again!) if I were running the show, this forum would be renamed "The East Coast Forum" and moved into a new category "Regional Forums" along with The Bristol Channel Forum and The Thames Forum said new category being placed below the main forum groups and above the Ships Forum

It is somewhat astonishing that such a friendly and sociable bunch as the east coasters are so keen to hide their light under a bushel

I'm obviously missing something here. I just subscribe to the forums that interest me, then hit the "settings" link at the top right of the page. Read everything of interest in one forum "mark all as read", hit the settings button again. Never, ever, used the list at the bottom.

Some things are maybe left to tradition.
We are used to having to navigate narrow muddy creeks to reach our destination,,,, so what is the rush to find us immediately?
Would you be more astonished if we were up there touting for business?
Those that want to find us, do.
Those who we can help, we give a link to.

BTW, there has been a long bitter struggle to ELIMINATE the regional forums, as it is reckoned that we should all be in one central place like S'Butt so that everyone can join in.
With some of the honking and hooting you get in other places, we would soon be subsumed again.
