Move my boat from UK to EU for 18 months as a EU resident

Hi, I like to move my boat from the UK (owned for 4 years already) to Croatia for 18 months and I'm Hungarian (EU citizen) with UK settlement scheme.
What documents I will need for road transport? I also have to do T1 custom clearance as well or not? I just don't want any surprise in Dover or Calais

Your title says "EU resident", but I assume you are UK resident. The rules require that the boat be owned by a person "established outside the EU" which you seem to meet and registered outside the EU. so you will need to register it as a British ship probably on the SSR if you have not done so already. It seems that the T1 form is all that is needed on entry but perhaps a good idea to check with your transport company.

Thank you, I'm Hungarian citizen,(EU) but over 20 years working in the UK, all I do move the boat to Croatia so I can enjoy the proper sun and 26 degree Sea comper the cold Britsh waters

Sounds very reasonable provided you meet the TA requirements. You will have to leave/re-enter EU waters every 18 months but this is no hardship from Croatia. Just make sure you organise ot properly with Croatian customs. Hope your boat is well set up for use in the Adriatic. Seems a lot of cost to move the boat there when there is a plentiful supply of good boats there many of which you can buy VAT free. You also have to consider what you will do with the boat if you want to sell it there. UK spec boats have a very limited market and an EU buyer will have to import it and pay VAT This is not an easy process with an older boat.

Forgive me if wrong ... but I read this as the boat is a Trailer Sailer ? You mention Dover / Calais - which implies you will be trailering the boat by ferry and drive across Europe ??

As Tranona mentions though - the cost is going to be quite high ... and likely will be higher 18 months later .... I assume all alternatives have been considered ?

As I understand from various people I know who buy UK based boats to sell in EU ... UK boats on a trailer have so many days grace before they need to be declared TA or import taxes paid ... if I remember rightly its 10 days. It mainly applies to the trailer as UK trailers unlike EU - are unregistered with number plate from the car towing it.
Personally I would be making a few phone calls and online enquiries. But I would guess that overall its not a big problem.

Register your trailer to take it abroad

You need to register the trailer to take it to the EU now and according to the RYA, the trailer needs to meet certain EU specs. (The light board has to attach to the trailer beyond the end of the load being a major difference apparently)

It may not be possible to import the boat at the end of 18 months, since the end of the transition period, boats being imported to the EU from the UK have to meet the most recent RCD, not the one in force when it was built.

Interesting - I'll have a chat with the guys as I know they were still bringing boats on trailers over based on the 10 day grace ... but it was a while since last chatting.

The lights - yes they need be part of the trailer .. not a separate board as I used in UK and still kept - brought it here !! But 'beyond end of load' ... is hardly enforced as many boats overhang the trailer ....

I have my 24ft MoBo on a trailer designed for up to 26ft - bought here in Latvia specifically for the job ... was inspected by Latvian Authorities ... and my boat transom extends past the lights and registration plate.
