How have others mounted their Bebi Owl to the masthead? The simplest way would appear to be just to use epoxy, though I am not sure how reliable that would be in the long term. Screwing it down would require making some sort of mounting.

The Owl light is made from a standard PVC plumbing pipe end-cap, so if you can arrange for a length of the correct size pipe sticking up, the light will slot over it. You'll want some kind of glue to hold it on, or possibly a screw through both lamp and pipe if you think you may want to remove it.

Thanks - that's a good plan. I can screw and araldite another end cap to the top of the mast, glue in a short length of pipe, solder the wires and seal them into the lower end cap with silicone, then glue the Owl over the top.

The Bebi instructions state that the FET which is just exposed through the sealant has to be exposed to air and not covered in sealant. Does this mean that I also should not block the three small holes on the lower edge of the Owl? Are they there to ventilate the FET? Or just to offer an alternative means of attaching the unit?

The holes are for mounting, not for ventilation. Not sure about the Owl, but the Masina lights designed to mount into housings (Aqua Signal etc) come with a short length of tube as a spacer to raise them to the correct height, three matching holes in the spacer, and three cable ties to fix them together.

As Pete says, PVCu waste pipe is the way to go, Bebi show it on their site - http://www.bebi-electronics.com/owl.html

You need to use solvent cement available from plumbers merchants or B & Q, wouldn't use Araldite. Not sure about the holes you mention, neither of my Owls have any. Maybe they've started drilling the later ones for mounting?
