I would like to get a list of peeps who would like to act as crew together,
I am asked often if I know of willing crew, some will be just day stuff, poss local to Solent, south coast, others may be long distance varying from 2 days to 3 weeks.
If anyone is interested drop me a PM ,

Please put my name down. I would need some notice, as I will need to get the pink slip signed by SWMBO!

I know my bio says I am a raggie, /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif but SWMBO is keen on a mobo, so maybe I had better sample it.....

Herein lies the rub. If only it was as simple as giving notice. I'm afraid that flexibility has to be the key. The number of times we get booked to do jobs and it all goes to hell in a hand-basket is amazing. All sorts of factors conspire against things going to plan - not just the weather. For example, the other week we had to move two boats for transporting on a ship - nearly a week later we finally got them them away - the ship was delayed through bad weather and I think we had two skippers on standby, in the end we did it. Two weeks ago we took a boat to Plymouth and planned to bring one back the same day - 72 hours later we get back.

While we have a need for crew and it's a great way to build miles it ain't no 9-5, Monday to Friday job and the pay (if you get paid at all - some companies refuse to pay for crew) is lousy. But if you want to build miles and get to go on a variety of different boats and be out in some sea states that might make your hair curl then it's great but sometimes you may have to say to the wife - "I may be sometime"

We get a number of our clients who ask to crew just for the experience. Had a guy this week doing coastal skipper - self employed with a Princess 50 in the med and a new Squaddie on order who wants to crew just "for the fun of it" plus wants more tidal waters experience. So, as Julie has said, get in touch. They are not all as glamorous as taking a Flemming 55 to Gibraltar or Portugal or a Lagoon 44 to Palma, but trips around the UK coast or the CI's are still not to be sniffed at.

Oh and forgot to mention that those with commercial endorsements to their Yactmaster power certificates are also welcome to apply - you will get paid for having that!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Noted and understood. The wind has an uncanny ability to ensure that you never start/complete the passage on plan!!

I would still love to come! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
