Motor boating with a difference

Just started a delivery to Antigua on 48m sailing yacht... Turns out we will likely motor all the way!!! How cool is that...

Eg, tell us what sort of boat she is, and where you are sailing from?

Thats cool to be able to surf the internet while surfing non existent waves in the Atlantic - its flat calm here too.
I hope the trades kick in soon for you - or would you prefer to motor across instead?

I am on a Parini 48m. We left Palma today. Very little wind here so motoring @ 11 knots. Skipper wants to be in Antigua around 12th December so need to keep pace up hence becoming a motor boat with a difference.

We have sat comms so hope to have Internet most of the way.

I guess you have a rather serious deadline to be at the Antigua Charter Show in time - woe betide if you are late......

Can you post some photos please occasionally, if your satcom will allow it?

Slip of the keyboard Andromeda La Dea. An early P'Navi. Nice machine, though the fact she is motoring across isn't unusual. I bet she always motors across. Most of them do, because engine rebuilds are cheaper than sails and sailing would be too slow

Didn't Andromeda used to be owned by Tom Perkins, the chap who built the Maltese Falcon?

Yes, he owned both Andromedas. Andromeda and Andromeda le Dea. Both Perinis like M Falcon. And he owns the classic Mariette

You have a point there. In a ugliest boat context, Smooth Operator definitely has good chances to achieve a brilliant result.
