He was approaching his intended destination and was completely conscious of all the vessels immediately around him and was careful to stay clear, in what was possibly a situation he simply did not realise was occurring until he was in and amongst it. Just before the gun yachts about to start a race mill about all over the place. Why should the Moto be expected to be anticipating the gun the same as the racing boats, when he has no interest in the race about to start - one could argue why they decided not to maintain their course and speed, as required by the IRCPS - oh yes because they are racing !
As said yachts racing do not own the sea around them (even if they think they do), and the IRPCS still apply. The power boat was careful to pass close astern to all those very close to him and proceeded at a reasonable speed to get clear of this sudden melee. OK so he produced some wash, but at least he didn't stop or change his course unduly, which could have confused the boats approaching him.
So where he precisely passes the fleet concerned is random chance, and this is as much a part of a yacht race as anything else, and generally only those losing at the time will complain anyway.
(Ex offshore racing raggie).

Oh yes, another thing. After this had happened I was again able to contact the FAT, explain what had happened, and ask for previous usernames to be deleted to avoid unwarranted accusations from people such as you. My explanation was courteously accepted and my request carried out.
