Do you know what, I'm getting [--word removed--] off with this, and if I had a mobo that size, come that close for no good reason then I'd be pissed off in the extreme and I thought he put his case well, but you just want to wind it all up and create bad feelings, maybe its your way of having fun?

Yes, yes, I know its what it is (hopefully with the spectacular amount of misquoting) but it fair gets my dander up! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Spot on! The agro seems just personal and b@@@er all to do with boating. What happened to common sense?

More importantly what is a Dander. Do I have one and what does it take to get it up? Is this and age related thing or can this phenomenon strike any place at any time?

Re: Motor Boat \"Charlie\" off Cowes at 1200 Yesterday (sunday)

You may have one, or might not......but to control such a thing, well after many years of being unable to do so I have finally overcome my dander (mostly) and confirm that it is under control 99.9% of the time. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Just found this.
The first mention of the phrase in question comes in The Republican Banner newspaper, March 1834:

"He wound up by bringin' his fist down on the table... and the Gineral's hat on the table bounced up, I tell you; and says he, "there must be a change, Gineral"... but that didn't go good, and that got the Gineral's dander up."

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I reckon there a lot of undiagnosed "Dander upping" on this one. You have cheered my day up.
I am off to see if I can find one of my own. Cheers Simon.

Sounds like a dodgy place....

Olive Branch, MS, population 27,964, is located in Mississippi's DeSoto county, about 18.0 miles from Memphis and 140.4 miles from Little Rock.

Through the 90's Olive Branch's population has grown by about 490%. It is estimated that in the first 5 years of this decade the population of Olive Branch has grown by about 33%.

Olive Branch's property crime levels tend to be about the same as Mississippi's average level. The same data shows violent crime levels in Olive Branch tend to be about the same as Mississippi's average level.

I gave up reading all the crap on this thread a few days ago. Glad it's not just me who thinks it's become quite unpleasant for no apparent reason.

Re: Motor Boat \"Charlie\" off Cowes at 1200 Yesterday (sunday)

I have been on the forums for a few years now. I have not posted that much but do read quite a lot of posts. My style is to aviod anything even slightly contraversial on these forums because it seems to spark off the most bitter rows which makes the forums a bit unpleaseant. Most of my boating is sailing however I also love power boats, and my wish is for harmony between the two activities. I have witnessed both sailing boats and power boats doing some daft things in my years on the water, both in the UK and abroard. On the few occasions I have been involved in something as you describe, I simply report it to the authorities (ie. harbour master, CG, marina staff, punters in local pub, etc etc!) and then it vents my anger in a more discreet way! Anyway, glad you managed to avoid any damage or injury to you or the crew on board. Happy sailing/racing!

Re: Motor Boat \"Charlie\" off Cowes at 1200 Yesterday (sunday)

As brief aside have come a cropper several time due to close encounters with flys and sports boats mainly around 35/40ft (no I have no idea why the owners of this size of boat are the main offenders) but have yet to have a yacht unexpectedly alter course in front of me.
Praps its because I can keep my eyes open and anticipate that a yacht may alter course in order to progress but "must press on" in big newish Mobos are another thing altogether and Budda/Shiva/Darth Vader help you if you dare comment unfavorably esp. on this fora. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Smaller fast boats do not cause that much wash and really big Mobos do not apparently feel the need to impress with speed.....Sigh.
