Most Stupid Short Berth?

I've been transferred to my permanent pontoon berth to find that it is just 6m long (20 ft). I've paid for a 9.6m (31'6" approx) vessel. The next door boat sharing our finger pontoon (a Shetland family 4 - about 18 ft) fits great and has room to spare.
Our boat sticks out from the mast forwards. We cannot go in forwards because the bowsprit would prevent anyone walking past. Anyway, either way round you cannot step off from the shrouds until the boat has almost hit the walkway because the pontoon is more likely to be water. Then as regards tying up... the forward lines come back to the pontoon cleat amidships.
I hate coming bck to this berth - it is a pig. The clear water in between the rows of pontoons is suitable for much smaller boats, so there is insufficient room to manouvre for me (and everyone else) once my boat sticks out well across, especially when overlength boats stick out from the opposite berths too.
Anyway, I have mentioned all this to the marina but they are full to capacity. They have suggested that my boat is the wrong shape! (I thought it was boat shaped and that boats are habitually parked in marinas).
They have suggested they might pysically swap the 6m pontoon for a 6.4m one and have told me the regulation length must not be less than 2/3 the boat length.
Any Ideas what I should expect and what I should put up with?
Should I ask for a refund? There are 16-20 foot boats on longer pontoons than me who will have paid far less than me.
(or should I just buy 10 new fenders?)

Personally I would never use a marina for a permanent mooring, but that's no help to you!

1. I don't know what the "regulation" is that they refer to, but they are clearly in breach of that regulation and you could kick up a fuss based on that alone. Perhaps you could write to them and tell them that you must insist on a proper mooring which complies with the regulations.

2. Could you try calling up the marina staff every time you need to moor and ask them to come down to take your lines as its not safe for you because of the short pontoon?

It may be best to try to get them to move a smaller boat onto your pontoon to make a bit more space for you elsewhere. It may annoy the other boat owner but..................

Sad fact.

Newcomers to a high demand marina inevitably get allocated the most crap berth in the place. Even if there are a few better berths being held open "just in case" by the marina. Don't expect any other berth-holders willingly to swap with you, they've already been through this and worked their way to better berths. Keep making a nuisance of yourself, keep checking if any other permanent berth is becoming vacant, until the staff give way.

Or move on.

Park nose in and let others worry about the bowsprit.

Name and shame - what a splendid idea - but then I'll probably be kicked out altogether - or end up with an even worse berth (not that this is this possible - a good look round has confirmed mine is the shortest!).

Anyway, it's in Pembrokeshire - that's all I'm willing to say (without prejudice).

Perhaps I should treat the end of my stubby pontoon as a pile and tie up between this and the end of the pontoon opposite.

Anyway, I'll wait a couple of weeks and see whether it has grown.

Be careful .....

Port Solent charged my pal for the extra his anchor stuck out from the stem when stowed ..... put him into next size mooring fee bracket. He removed anchor, marina refused to reduce mooring fee .... he said stuff you and moved.

They have you by the short and proverbials.

Sounds like you are getting plenty of practice for berthing in the Cherbourg or St Quay Portrieux visitors berths, your boat has to be pretty small for the finger to reach amidships over there!
