Most expensive short stay in Solent?

We stopped at Shephards Wharf for lunch recently (bit over 4 hours in all). £12.74 for a 13.4m boat. We thought at the time that it was cheap - we weren't wrong were we!

Short stay £14 at Berthons, 26ft,

Last time visited I said I will only be an hour and they gave me that foc.

IMO the only place to stay at Lymington so whatever I will be back!

Totally agree that Berthon is the best marina in Lymington, we wouldn't go anywhere else.

I just think nearly £16 is a lot compared to paying £10 at Yarmouth and £8 at CYH. Might be Lymington only becomes an overnight stop for us as I don't think the £30 charge is bad at all.

I guess I'm just tight :p

You're not tight it's too much for a lunch stop in my world. Enough to make me avoid it. Never understood the appeal of Berthon anyway, but for a lunch stop what you think of the marina is almost irrelevant, it's about the location.

i was in a rib at bucklers hard a couple of years back and asked the harbour master if i could stop behind fuel berth while went for a quick p--- he said yes for seven quid you can i said i would rather p--ss myself than pay you seven quid legs crossed till we got to cowes

You were lucky it was only £7 !! They only breath in there.

In contrast, the main harbour in Monaco (port Hercule/ aka port of Monaco) is totally free for a 3 hour lunch stop in 24m boat, even in July and August

Well, this spot is not exactly round the corner for most of us, but it's completely FoC, also for overnighting.
And the surrounding scenario is also included....! :)

Serve you right for going to sea without the sailor's most essential piece of kit ... a rubber bucket.

I paid 69Euro last night for 50foot on the local authority mooring in port pollenca Mallorca. I nearly cried.......... the guy next to us said he paid 180euro in menorca the previous night so the solent is cheap.

Actually, my experience in Menorca was different
Last year, we went into Mahon - and asked them if we could stay for lunch
The marina operators said (in Spanish/broken English) - You want water?
I said - No we want to stay for lunch
Again, they said - You want water.
Again, I said NO - WE WANT TO STAY FOR LUNCH
Again, they said YOU WANT WATER!!!
OH - OK - I finally got the message - Yes, I said - I WANT WATER
OK - they said - that will be 10 euros and take as long as you want!!!

So, it is a matter of understanding how places operate
