Morocco - booze on board

This summer we rocked up with about 30 bottles of rioja. No interest at all. Same at Smir.
Customs can be funny, I’d never take no interest as no enforcement at all. Often they enforce seemingly randomly just to show there are rules. Photographers recently found this out in Mexico when enforcement started and they began charging tax on imports. The rules hadn’t changed, they just decided today’s the day.
Morocco seems to have a limit of 1L wine per person. I was reading that (for the EU, which may well be different) import is when you take it ashore so perhaps doesn’t matter. Never worth arguing at customs or border control though so be prepared to pay, pour away, or give away anything outside the rules.

To book a berth at Tanja Marina bay you have to contact Mariam by wattsapp. Her number is +212661226301. She runs the office and speaks good English. She can help with things like trains to Rabbat, where the long distance taxi ranks are etc. Allow 2 to 3 hours to check in and a bit less to check out. They meet you on the alongside quay and explain everything. In September there is a very good Jazz festival in the city with many popular african artists. It's a great place

If you go to the main square outside the Grand souk by Cinema Riff there is a guy who sells data only sim cards. We got about 20GB for 20 euros. He sets it up for you so the Arabic isn't an issue
