This little box receives Fax, Navtex and RTTY. The ideal solution? Does anyone have experience of using one. Active antenna or back stay? Ease of setup etc?

Yes I looked at these and they do seem neat but somewhat expensive given that I can get all the infro either from SSB + laptop or standard navtex (at 2/3 price). The auto bit is what apeals, can you keep it in the laptop case and get alook at the shipping forecast etc by just plugging it in in the office?

I tried one last year and it was not working,brougth in back to the shop ,changed it for Furuno and everything OK

The new Morer units also give a continuous readout of pressure for up to seven days and the WIB2D has a small display allowing you to see the information wherever you are.

I've got a WIB 2, now sold as WIB 2b with barograph and it does what it says on the tin. Naturally I'd expect the above one to be far superior, especially due to the external aerial. Don't bother getting one of those with inbuilt display though: far too small to be of any use. Especially since it won't allow you to filter the navtex messages. It'll show every one received over the last x-hours even if of no interest to you at all.
Perhaps this snag has been ironed out by now though.
