I'm not cynical, I just think the present government is out to screw us /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: ReProblem reading speedometer?

no - it's only out to screw those it believes can/will pay. If you have a car (and actually tax, insure and MOT it) then you won't miss another 10 quid etc etc

Another solid means tested tax.........

Its not so much that the fines are going up, Its the way they go about it giving naff reasons for it. Why can't they be honest for once and say "we're strapped for a bit of cash so we're upping fines a bit" That I could swallow. The slimey "we're going to give it to victims of crime" I can't.

They're politicians. They were born without honesty genes. They are so addicted to spin, the idea of actually telling the truth would never occur to them.

I must be a bit thick -- but strikes me if the government wants to help victims of crime there are a couple of thimgs they can do.. the first and its probably a bit obvious, is reduce the number of criminals -- by catching them and making sure they don't like what happens to 'em -- things like making a thug clean up all his graffitti.. and everyone elses, or publically humilating shoplifters..

The other thing they could do.. and I guess the govt doesn't think like normal people is rather than add a bit on to fines, why don't they forgo the revenue and give ALL the fine to a victims fund?

I think were that the case few people would be bitching -- in fact I think I'd bee happier knowing a speeding fine is going to help some poor old dear who's house has been turned over 5 times int he last year by the same thugs...

Re: Mr S Hussain PLC. Bagdad Branch.

About the same amount of dosh we got from providing all his weapons and training his troops/ freedom fighters as our front line against the Ayotollas.
Ps.Are we mates with them (Iran) again or not.Gets very confusing for oldgits like me.

Re: ReProblem reading speedometer?

But the fine on late tax is only for naughty folks of couse. When I tell them that my 38 year old book keeper got twelve months left to live last week and my 26 year old son had a stroke this week, the fine wont apply to me surely??
