Got a Sealine 240, 2.5 tonne, 25' boat to be moored in the straits which has quite a rip (12kts at times).
What diameter rope should be used as the main strop, to take the strain?
The quotes I'm getting locally are quite expensive. Does anyone know of somebody who does a good number in making up mooring strops?

Many thanks in advance.

No point in being cheapskate about it. Is it worth saving £50 if the boat goes walkabout as a result? BTW, if it's that vicious, invest in fairleads all over the place, and where the warps are in constant touch with anything, consider running them through 1" plastic tubing from a pond shop or similar. Our last boat chafed her way through 4 lengths of 12mm nylon three-strand, and fetched up on a sand bank in the middle of a gale...
