mooring pins

Two plenty for that size boat, those look a reasonable price to me.

Steve, who takes the mooring fees at Fawley Meadow, makes them and they would probably be cheaper but I dont have his phone number, anyone else got his number?

Seems a bit pricey, but then all metals have gone horrendously up in price.

Since you're (somewhere) in Herts, you have a choice of:-

<ul type="square">
Uxbridge Boat Centre
Midland Chandlers, themselves, in Braunston and that branch has bits for all tastes.
Is there still a chandlery at Cowroast?? (Tring)
Even Espar at Harleyford - i think- have some, though you'll pay a Thames premium for them.
Lastly Whilton chandlery.

!,2, and 5 usually have the keenest prices.

OK not necessarily near to you, but then you don't state your location with any accuracy.

I agree that two pins would be enough to moor your boat. However, I would suggest buying three so that you have spare. It is easy to lose one into the water, especially if you are new to boating. With three pins you would still have two to moor up while you try to recover the one you dropped in the water.

Also, don't forget to buy a lump hammer to drive them into the ground.

You can get them with sliding weights on. A bit pricier but very handy. The weight hammers the pin in - you can do that with a hammer but it's one more thing to carry. The weight also hammers the pin out which is a good trick.

I still think that you will learn some great stuff about pin mooring if you for the.... ah, no-one cares or agrees, I'll go to bed

Borrow a sea searcher magnet off someone and just drag it along the bank of any regular mooring spot. You'll get a lifetime supply of mooring pins /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
