Mooring on the Hamble

Dinghy berth

I kept a dinghy at the hard behind the ship inn for many years, you just need a padlock and chain so no-one steals it. Mine went the only time I forgot but we had the last laugh as it had a hole and almost certainly sunk! The only issue is that at seasons end the council do have a tidy up remove the rally grotty ones.

We are also on the piles opposite Swanwick Marina and we keep our tender in the marina.

Having seen how busy the public slipway gets during the summer I would discount it as a place to leave a tender. People put trailers and cars infront of the tenders stored ashore all the time so getting it afloat on your own may be difficult/impossible at times and that assumes you've found a car parking space.

The car park I believe also has a limited parking duration (24hrs?, been I while since I read the sign) so is no use for leaving the car for any duration although I'm not sure if its enforced often!

Having the tender in the marina works well for us and parking/shower facilities are useful to have access to also.

KristiferColumnbus. Weren'tyou looking for a job opportunity? Sounds like the perfect job for you if your rates of fare are OK, with a late evening tariff perhaps.
You'll probably need to get a ferry operators licence that lasts for a few years(similar to Powerboat one) and some public liability insurance.
OK so I know it would cut into your sailing at a weekend, but might allow you to do some midweek sailing, and be your own boss!!
