I have just done some using 9mm climbing rope.
I did a 3 strand plat with eyelets in both ends. It is a bit to early to say how well they will work, since I have left the normal ropes in place with a bit of slack in them.

I hope you have used the stretchy climbing line because a lot climbing line doesn't stretch?

I too use climbing rope for mooring lines as like the sretch they allow. they are my old climbing ropes and are nicely made. All climbing rope is stretchy (dynamic) nowadays, only abseiling rope (static) is made with no stretch. Also use it for my cruising chute
